Web Developer w/ Drupal Expertise
DESCRIPTION: Spine-health (www.spine-health.com) is looking to add a Drupal developer to our team in Deerfield, Illinois. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within an award winning content publisher that helps people manage a chronic health condition. Our site is the leading health website for people with back pain, supporting patient education through a combination of physician-written articles; a vibrant, active patient community; a pain blog; a spine doctor directory; enewsletters; and more. Our tech team works to design, develop and manage this large, high volume web site.
We are looking for a passionate and talented Web Developer who is well versed in Javascript, PHP, HTML, CSS, and JQuery, with an emphasis on Drupal CMS. We have aggressive growth goals – and need a developer who can help take our business to the next level.
This is the ideal position for someone looking for a full time position with a stable, profitable, established company that is still small in size and entrepreneurial in culture. The successful developer candidate must enjoy working in an agile environment with minimal hierarchy, while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
OVERVIEW: We require that our candidates have experience working with content management systems, including Drupal. A working knowledge of teaming with designers to implement Drupal theme changes is desired. We are also looking for developers that have a love for presentation layer features using JQuery, closely coupled with Drupal modules. Our current site has a wealth of content and we are looking to exploit Javascript-based UI frameworks to provide more impact.
REQUIRED:
- Minimum 3-5 years experience as a Web Developer, with a minimum 2 years experience with Drupal. Must be able to provide examples of your work.
- BA/BS degree
- Experience in Web development interface tools including: Javascript, AJAX, PHP, HTML and CSS
- Skills with MySQL database development on a CMS
- Proficiency in JQuery
- Ability to theme, develop blocks, build content entry forms, and use/develop stock/custom Drupal modules
- Ability to complete team-based projects which are documented and quality tested across browsers
- Strong skills in business requirements: experience with creating and implementing features from requirements documents; as needed, ability to gather and create requirements documents
- Ability to interface and communicate well with the entire business team (including writers, SEO/traffic specialists, Sales/Marketing, senior management), to support operational goals (e.g., increasing traffic, increasing ad revenue) of our company
- Desire to work with a team of other content managers, designers and developers
- Capable of project management and leading a team; can deliver initiatives on time and within budget; capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously, handling tight deadlines and delivering on expected results.
DESIRED:
- Coding experience with a content publisher
- An understanding of SEO impact
- Ability to grow website traffic and ad revenues (e.g., Google AdSense, email marketing)
- Experience managing website usability and analytics
- Experience training/mentoring other team members, including developers, designers, and business units
- Optional but a big plus: experience in design, user interface enhancements, video/animation.
